1970's

1970 - KEY WEST STREET - Watercolor on Paper - 20X30
Painted on location during my repetitive shape stretched boxes era.

1970 – CEMENT SAILS - Acrylic on Board - 30X40
"The sails look like cement boats that aren't going anywhere. Boxed in shapes but with texture. It was a really big deal to put a circle in, to go outside the straight edge."

1971 – SHANTY TOWN BOX LIVING - Watercolor on Paper - 30X40
"This was painted in a very controlling time of my life. No variety of paint, no big areas of paint. I was scared to death to go out of shapes. Each little box was a meditation. I felt safe doing these paintings but there was a little hint of freedom with boats and round sun of hope.”

1971 - BOXSCAPE- Watercolor on Paper - 20X30
"Beginning to introduce trees to Boxscape. Unity of shapes."

1971 – BEYOND THE TREES - Watercolor on Paper - 30X40
"Each of the leaves is the shape of water that I dropped color into like stain glass windows."

1971 - THROUGH THE CRYSTAL TREES - CHANGE OF SEASONS - Watercolor on Board – 40X60
“Trees are emitting an energy.”

1971 - EMERGING - Watercolor on Paper - 30X40
" I was experimenting with texture. The circle is expanded. I was determined to win Best in Show but the night before the show I spilled a whole bottle of black ink on the painting so I had to sand it for an hour and that is how I discovered this new technique. This painting is a good example of two dimensional box formula. "I WON Best in Show at the Winter Park Art Festival in Florida."

1972 – GHOST VILLAGE - Watercolor on Board - 30X40
"Using wash technique where I would wet entire board and paint color through it. Getting more free in technique. This is the first paper where I introduce ghost like human forms with unhappy faces in there lonely world. This was my consciousness at the time. Interesting where sun is."

1972 – NO VOICE - Oil on Canvas - 60X80
"Experimenting with painting people. No mouths, no voice. I used sanding in this painting."

1972 - THE MEETING OF THE MASTERS - Oil Wash on Canvas - 40X60
"My spiritual teacher at the time I painted this, told me I channeled a meeting of masters that happened on the other side. This is when I started to get in touch, thank to my Guru, that there's something going on with my paintings."

1973 – TRAPPED IN STONES - Oil Wash on Canvas - 25X30
"I would paint turpentine over the whole surface and drop color and let it run together like a watercolor wash. This was one of my first oils. Very monolith looking faces, stone like with no feeling."

1973 – WOMEN WITHOUT RIGHTS - Oil Wash on Canvas - 25X30
"Again, no mouth and religious sternness with judgement. A naked woman contrast. Patriotic women without a voice caught in boxy shapes. Statement on situation of women in culture."

1973 – CONSUMED BY DOGMA - Oil Wash on Canvas - 60X80
"Old world religious big painting. I was thinking about the Inquisition."

1973 – JOURNEY OF THE DISCIPLES - Watercolor on Board - 30X40
"This represents the journey of the disciple looking for the enlightened one. A Guru that I worked with for 20 years gave me a lot of confidence. He told me I had an agreement with spirit to bring forward the sound of love."

1973 – FIREWORK DOCK - Watercolor on Board - 30x40
"I did this painting in 3 hours. Wet on wet but you had to put the color on while it was still wet, turn the board vertical to effect the runs."

1973 – DRY DOCK - Watercolor on Board - 30X40
"You have a wash of color going through the textures. Gravity pulls the color through all the texture. I ran turpentine through the wet paint. Painted this in Miami, FL when I was really into boats.”

1973 – THE DISCOVERER - Watercolor on Board - 20X30
"Exploring the environment of nature. I liked the idea of a one person explorer."

1973 – WINTER SNOW - Watercolor on Board - 30X40
"I used a crinkle paper technique that made it look like snow was coming down."

1973 – COLORADO DREAM - Watercolor on Board - 30X40
“Living in Florida but dreaming of returning to the mountains. Later in life, I lived in the Colorado Rockies and got to see winter.”

1973 – BOATS AT REST - Oil on Canvas with Texture - 40X60
"You have a wash of color going through the textures. Gravity pulls the color through all the texture. I ran turpentine through the wet paint. Painted this in Miami, FL when I was really into boats.”

1974 – ON THE BEACH - Oil on Canvas - 20X24
"I lived near the beach when I painted this. I used egg whites while the painting was still wet to create the orb effect. I had a restaurant size stove at this house where I painted. I would heat it up and put the small canvases in it. The texture and molding stuff would rise and create these interesting textures. I would put the big canvases in the sauna!"

1974 - BECOMING GODDESSES - Watercolor with Resin - 30X40
“Started introducing embossments during my etching period showing dimensions.
Feminine on the path of discovery on the connection cord searching for the light.”
